No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Condensation between the two panes means the seal around the edge of the sealed unit has failed and moisture is inside the cavity. There is no way to get in there and dry it out permanently. The unit is replaced, which means new glass into your existing frame rather than a new window, and it is a job of an hour or two per opening.
Usually not. If the frame is sound and the hinges, handles and locks still work, only the glass needs to change and that is a fraction of the cost of a replacement window. A new frame is the right answer when the frame itself has failed: rotten timber, distorted PVC, or a unit so old that no replacement glass will fit the beading. We will tell you which one you have got.
A sealed unit is made to your measurements, so there is a lead time of a few days between measuring and fitting, sometimes longer for toughened, obscure or leaded glass. Fitting itself is quick. If a pane is broken and the opening is not secure, we will board it up on the first visit so the house is safe and weathertight while the glass is on order.
Yes. Bathrooms and front doors generally need obscure glass and there is a range of patterns to pick from. Anything low down, in a door, beside a door or in a bathroom usually has to be toughened or laminated to meet the safety requirements, and we specify that as standard rather than as an upgrade. Say what the opening is and we will order the right glass for it.
Where the frame will take it, yes. Some older frames are only rebated deep enough for single glass, in which case a slim sealed unit may fit or the frame may need changing. We measure the rebate before quoting so you get a straight answer rather than a surprise on fitting day.
It goes with us. Broken glass is cleared, wrapped and taken away, and the frame is cleaned out and the drainage checked before the new unit goes in. Nothing gets left in a skip on your drive or propped against the shed.
